據ESPN報導，隨著騎士在總決賽以2：4輸給勇士，36歲的馬利安（Shawn Marion）也結束了在NBA第16個賽季的征戰生涯！
「是的，沒錯！」這位四屆NBA全明星球員回復ESPN，他將按照原計劃退休。
1999年，太陽用首輪第9順位選中馬利安，他迎來最光輝的歲月，度過了8個半賽季，獲選4次全明星賽。2008年，太陽將馬利安送到熱火，自此他的狀態也開始下滑。2009年2月，熱火又將他交易到暴龍，同年7月，又在4隊大交易當中被暴龍交易到小牛，他在達拉斯度過了5個賽季，並獲得過一次總冠軍。
去年夏天馬利安離開小牛，他就考慮到退休的想法，最終決定簽約騎士，一來是希望再奪一次總冠軍，再者是這裡離兒子所在的芝加哥比較近一些。
馬利安認為還有能力再打兩、三個賽季，但是由於難以忍受遠離孩子的煎熬，使得他下定決心離開，「我想要離開有自己的考慮，最重要的原因是我有一個兒子，我不得不陪伴他。定期去看他很艱難，從照片和錄影中看他成長是我不願意的。」
